MARCHESI CENTRE

The objective of the Marchesi is to provide recreational facilities for the benefit of those over 50 years of age living in Windermere and Bowness and Troutbeck Bridge areas.

The Marchesi also rents out rooms to various organisations on a regular basis which are not age restricted.

Marchesi Centre is a registered charity and is managed by a committee consisting of elected members and co-opted members representing the main users of the centre.

Subscriptions for the year 2024 are £14 and you are welcome to join anytime

 

Building of the Marchesi commenced in 1969 from fund raising by the Windermere, Ambleside & District Round Table Group and was formerly opened in 1971.

 

The Marchesi runs group activities such as  Rummikub, Craft and Art.  .

A coffee morning is held on the 1st Saturday of each month to raise funds for the Centre. 

​

There are various trips and activities organised throughout the year enjoyed by members and non members.

All our rooms have free Wi-Fi

ROOM HIRE

There ​are four rooms for hire which are charged by the session. E.g. morning, afternoon or evening or consecutive sessions.  Times are flexible depending on bookings: 

  • The Thomas Bland Hall which is a rectangular shaped room holds up to 60 people, is 1090 square foot and is charged at £48 per session.

 

  • The Millennium Lounge which is an L shaped room holds approx 40 people, is 810 square foot and is charged at £43 per session.

 

  • The Cecil Reed Room is a smaller square shaped room holding approx. 20 to 30 people, it is 455 square foot and is charged at £30 per session.

 

  • We also have a smaller room, 'the Little Room'. charged at £20 per session.

 

The Kitchen facilities are included with room hire and users are advised that at busy times the kitchen may need to be shared.

All tables and chairs can be used, we just ask that at the end of your session everything is put back where it was, all information is listed in our hire conditions.
